Reverse Osmosis Systems: Too Risky For Your Home?

Monday, April 29th, 2019

flooded-homeReverse osmosis systems are praised for their ability to filter just about any harmful contaminants out of your drinking water. They use a thin membrane to block anything bigger than water molecules from entering your drinking water. This makes them great systems for your entire house, or simply as point-of-use systems to be installed directly in conjunction with your kitchen sink.

But for all of its positive qualities, there’s one major drawback that all homeowners should be aware of:

Reverse osmosis systems are the number one cause of flooding in your home.

In this post, we’ll explain why this happens, as well as provide some alternatives for water filtration systems in Glendale.

Are Saltless Filtration Systems Better than Salt-Based?

Friday, January 4th, 2019

salt-based-water-softenerIf you do an internet search for this topic, what you will find is a slew of articles accusing saltless filters as being some kind of “fake” water softener. They’ll make sure to clarify that saltless filters should be called conditioners rather than softeners… as if that were a bad thing.

For the expert plumber in Phoenix, AZ, it makes sense why you would never want to mix up a softener with a conditioner. Softeners remove minerals from the water, and conditioners simply remove the mineral’s abilities to stick to your plumbing. It would be a lie to say they’re the same.

But for the average consumer, who wants nothing more than for their water to feel better and to avoid scaling on their plumbing system, saltless filtration is still an excellent choice.

Actually, we’d argue that salt-less filtration systems are the better choice. We’ll explain more down below.

Need a Water Treatment System? Let a Professional Plumber Explain Your Options

Monday, December 11th, 2017

water-treatment-systemsYour plumbing is arguably the most important component of your home: providing safe, clean water for drinking, cooking and bathing. Our civic water systems do a decent job of keeping our water clean and potable, but no system is perfect and problems do crop up from time to time. That comes on top of less impactful but still significant issues like hard water, which is a big problem in Arizona and can cause problems in your home. (more…)

Water Softening Systems Cut Down on Hard Water in Your Home

Monday, October 16th, 2017

water-softening-systemWe live in the desert, and that means that hard water is a common problem for most local households. Hard water isn’t necessarily threatening: it’s simply water with a higher mineral content the normal. Such minerals usually consist of calcium and magnesium, which the human body can absorb safely. Just because it isn’t dangerous, however, doesn’t mean it can’t impact your life in damaging ways.  (more…)

How Can Water Filtration Systems Help Your Home?

Monday, October 2nd, 2017

water-filtration-installaionThe local municipal water systems do an excellent job of rendering water potable for our use. Modern life depends on reliable water for drinking, cooking and cleaning. But even the most diligent public system can miss certain key factors – hard water, for example, is a considerable problem in our area – and everyone’s water could stand to be a little cleaner and purer. Homes with infants or similarly sensitive family members especially benefit from more pure water. (more…)

Signs Your Home Needs a Water Softener

pipe-lime-scaleYour city water treatment facilities might be quite good, depending on where you live. They also might be pretty horrible. The effectiveness with which cities treat their water supplies varies more than it should, honestly. Regardless of how good or bad your water is treated before it gets to you, though, you should know that it will never be perfect. There is always a chance of trace amounts of harmful materials making it into your home’s water supply. One of the less dangerous contaminants to you, but more dangerous to your plumbing system, is hard water.

Hard water is water with a very high amount of magnesium and calcium particles in it. As it flows through the plumbing system, it will deposit small amounts of these contaminants on the pipe walls. Over time, the mineral deposits will grow large enough to restrict the flow of water through the pipes. This kind of deposit is called lime scale, and it can be a nightmare to deal with. Hard water can be treated with a water softener, which neutralizes the magnesium and calcium content in it. First, though, you need to know if you have a hard water problem at all. Have a look at some of the signs that your home needs a water softener. (more…)

If you get your water supply from the city in which you live, as most people do, then you are likely benefiting from a municipal water treatment process. Unfortunately, this process is not 100% effective. There are plenty of times when the quality of the water coming out of your taps is not as high as it could be, or should be. Look for these following symptoms that you might want to take extra steps to ensure the quality of your water. (more…)
